Ingredients

Beef Marinade

  • 1 lb beef ribeye cut into 1-1½" cubes
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch or tapioca starch for coating beef

Vegetables

  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 green pepper
  • 2 tomato
  • Steamed rice to serve

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 garlic clove (mince)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar

Method

  1. Combine beef, oyster sauce, minced garlic, oil, and sugar in a bowl and marinate for at least 1 hour.

  2. In a small bowl, make the sauce by mixing together soy sauce, fish sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sugar. Add sugar to taste

  3. Saute the green pepper, red pepper, red onion and tomato in a pan over medium heat.

  4. Before cooking, transfer the beef to another plate to remove excess liquid and let it rest in room temperature.

  5. Heat up vegetable oil on high heat. Add the beef cubes and sear on all sides by shaking the beef until medium rare. It's highly recommended to do this in batches to get a nice sear without overcooking. Transfer beef to a plate and set aside.

  6. In the same pan, melt butter, then add onions and garlic. Sauté until fragrant (about 1-2 minutes). Add sauce mixture and seared beef cubes.

  7. Once you have cooked all your beef, add in the vegetables and stir fry over medium-low heat for around 2 minutes.
